Our School
The Laboratory School of Finance and Technology (LSFT) is a public district middle and high school in the New York City Department of Education. The school serves 450 students in grades 6-12. LSFT opened in 2003 as a replacement for a persistently dangerous and underperforming junior high school in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx. Since then, the school has grown in size and popularity for innovative programming, a safe learning environment, recently expanding into high school grades. The principal of LSFT, Dr. Ramon Gonzalez, has been recognized for his educational leadership and as a visionary leader by such diverse organizations and publications as Smithsonian Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times Magazine.
Academics
Students benefit from our technology program which features three computer labs, SMART Boards in all classrooms, trips to Google and New York’s Silicon Alley, MOUSE Squad, and student technology teams. In addition, the school is part of the DOE Software Engineering Pilot, allowing students to learn coding, robotics, HTML, and many other programs.
Parents love our innovative technology and finance programs where students are immersed in a schoolwide economy with School Bucks, financial courses, school jobs, a school bank, and a school store. We serve students in grades 6-12.
